La popular cantante colombiana recibió las nominaciones por su video “Hips Don’t Lie”. También el grupo Red Hot Chili Peppers recibió siete nominaciones para los Premios de Video Musical MTV, por su vídeo “Dani California”, anunció la cadena MTV.
Ambos competirán por el premio al video del año junto con la cantante de ascendencia ecuatoriana Christina Aguilera con “Ain’t No Other Man”, Madonna con “Hung Up” y Panic! At The Disco con “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”.
Madonna, Shakira y Aguilera también fueron nominadas al premio al mejor vídeo femenino, junto con Kelly Clarkson con “Because of You” y Nelly Furtado con “Promiscuous”.
Además de las nominaciones al mejor video del año y el mejor video femenino, Shakira obtuvo la postulación en las categorías del mejor video de música “dance”, mejor video pop, premio especial otorgado por el público, mejor coreografía y mejor dirección de arte.
Asimismo Her Madgesty es postulada a otros tres premios, inclusive uno por el mejor video de baile y el mejor video pop. Aguilera también ha sido nominada para el mejor video pop y la mejor coreografía de video.
Nick Lachey con “What’s Left of Me” sobre su ruptura con Jessica Simpson, es nominado al mejor video de vocalista hombre junto con James Blunt por “You’re Beautiful”, Kanye West con “Gold Digger”, T.I. con “What You Know” y Busta Rhymes por su mezcla de “Touch It”.
Entre las bandas nominadas para el mejor video en grupo figuran, Chili Peppers, Fall Out Boy con “Dance, Dance” y Gnarls Barkley con “Crazy”.
En la ceremonia de presentación actuarán Beyonce Knowles, Justin Timberlake, Panic! At The Disco, The Killers y los raperos T.I. y Ludacris. La actuación de otros artistas serán anunciada posteriormente. La ceremonia de entrega de Premios de Video Musical MTV del 2006 será transmitida en directo por la cadena MTV el 31 de agosto a las 8 de la noche desde Radio City Music Hall de Nueva York.
Los televidentes pueden ver los videos y votar en los premios para las categorías generales tales como mejor vocalista hombre de video y el mejor video hip hop, hasta el 20 de agosto en la internet en el sitio www.vma.mtv.com.
